10th Annual Gift of Art Show Nov. 14, 2006 - Jan. 6, 2007 Christmas Party, Sunday Dec. 10, 4 pm	Opening Reception Sunday Nov. 19 featuring pastel paintings by Lois Peterson
A native of the southern Colorado town of Trinidad, Lois Petersen spent the earlier years of her career as an artist and art teacher in northern Colorado but returned to her roots in 1990. She rediscovered the landscape unique to southern Colorado, working in both pastels and oils. Lois emphasizes capturing the light, shadows and textures of the land and especially enjoys painting the seasonal changes as they affect her favorite painting spots.	Lois retired as an elementary art teacher this year. She also taught adult painting classes at Trinidad State Junior College for 12 years. Her paintings can be seen at the Buffalo Nickel Gallery in Cimarron, NM, the Mitchell Museum in Trinidad, and at the gallery of her husband, architect and watercolorist Alan Petersen, the Original Townsite Gallery, in Trinidad.
