Great Things in Small Packages

March 18 - April 19, 2008

Opening Reception and Artist Demonstration

Saturday, March 22 ~ 4 pm - 7 pm

Twenty-seven artists from throughout the Spanish Peaks region are showing an outstanding collection of miniature art in this show. Paintings, ceramics, wood, fiber, etchings, photography, and a variety of mixed media pieces have made this show one that will take some time to carefully appreciate. Below are a FEW of the items in the show.

Annie Enke's "Cliff Dwelling" received the People's Choice Award, the result of votes cast by those attending the reception.

Karen Pharr's fiber creation "Welcome Home" received a 2nd place People's Choice ribbon.

Featured Artist

Vicki Barton

Vicki Barton is a native Coloradoan who early in life found she had an inherent fascination with everything around her.

Colors, patterns of light and shadow, endless details, and fleeting impressions were all committed to memory. Vicki uses the drama of sunlight and shadows in much of her work to capture the viewer's interest.

Frequent trips throughout Colorado and surrounding states add to her wealth of painting resources. No subject is too ordinary when the mood strikes. To the casual viewer or the owner of one of Vicki's paintings, it is not what you can literally see in the painting, but your personal response and involvement that is important.

Although Vicki uses a variety of media in her work, most of her paintings are done in the versatile medium of watercolor. Watercolor lends itself to both loose and playful interpretation or realistic recording of that which captured her attention.

Vicki Barton teaches workshops on painting jewel-like miniatures. She gave a demonstration of her work prior to the reception and is our featured artist for this show. She is represented by Maxim's of Greeley,  Maxim's of Greeley Mountain Gallery in Estes Park, and at Two Graces, Rancho de Taos.
