2010 Photography Show

There were five art openings in La Veta May 29 and the turnout was tremendous! As of June 1, seven pieces in the current show have been purchased.

 

Show Judge: Carol Putnam

Carol Putnam has had a life-long interest in landscape photography, and after years of patient darkroom work she has happily embraced the digital process. Her interest continues to grow into an increasingly abstract approach to her subject matter. Putnam frequently displays her work at the SPACe Gallery and is represented by the Fired Works Gallery in Alamosa, Colorado.

Winners in the BLACK & WHITE category:

Bryan Briscoe-Smith, Colorado Springs, won both 1st and 3rd place.  Kenny Schneider, La Veta, placed 2nd.

First place winner in the COLOR Category, by Paul J. Foster, of Centennial,  "White Out" is a very small but powerful photo.

Two of Paul Foster's photos have been purchased, as well as Michelle Goodall's 2nd Place photo, "Dam It".

 

 First place winner in the Altered Category by Walter Ray Jones of La Junta "Spurs", was purchased as soon as the show opened May 25! (detail)

Second place in the altered category by Pat Newell, Denver, "St. Elmo's Windows"

 Tim Murphy, La Veta, received 3rd  for his black and white altered photo, "Atlast"

 

 

Because all the photos are displayed under glass, it is not possible to take good pictures of the photos. So here are some group images from the show. Photographers--if you send me small jpg images of your pieces in the show, I will gladly post them.--Kathy Hill, President
