The Art of the Metaphor
April 20 – May 13, 2017
The Metaphor is a figure of speech which makes an implicit, implied or hidden comparison between two things that are unrelated but share some common characteristics. Artists are invited to create visual metaphors. Artwork must be the original concept and design of the artist. All media are acceptable. The La Veta Students Art Show will be held in conjunction with this show, which brings young and old into our galleries.
► Apr. 14 & 15 — Bring artwork to the Gallery, 132 W. Ryus Ave., 11 am – 2 pm.
A $5 late fee will be assessed for entries accepted after Apr. 15.
Late entries must be approved in advance.
Email to make arrangements. Work MAY be brought earlier.
► April 22 – Opening reception 5-7 pm
► May 13 – Pick up artwork 1:30-2 pm or by June 17.
♦ $5 entry fee per item. No limit on number of entries. Sold artwork may be replaced for no additional fee. If any entry is over the equivalent of 20″x30″, it will count as 2 entries ($10).
♦ All entered artwork MUST BE FOR SALE.
♦ 30% commission will be charged on Members’ sales; 35% nonmembers
Hanging art must be properly presented and have a secure WIRE ON THE BACK, no sawtooth hangers. See CHECKLIST on entry form for complete requirements.
SPACe members who live too far away to hand deliver their artwork may ship artwork entered in this show, as long as it arrives by Apr. 14 and can be picked up before June 17. Arrangements can be made to pick up work at a later date. Shipped artwork must be sent via US Postal Service to the SPACe P.O. Box 803. DO NOT SHIP GLASS. Framed artwork must be protected with plexiglas or similar glazing. Include a copy of this entry form and the required entry fees, as well as membership dues if applicable.
