2019 Annual La Veta Schools Students Art Show
La Veta Schools Art Teacher, Amber Huff is showing a display of artwork created by her middle and high schools students at the SPACe Gallery until April 20. Her students assisted with hanging the show. The young people learn about how to present artwork for gallery shows, which involves choosing titles for their work and setting prices. Many pieces were purchased at the opening reception April 10. Thanks to a grant to the school, Ms. Huff was able to have several of the pieces professionally framed. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners were chosen by impartial judges at the reception. The winners are 1st Place, Cailee Sanchez for her graphite drawing, “Courage”. 2nd Place went to Anna Montalbano for her painting “Fox” and 3rd Place was awarded to Kaiya Swenson for her graphite drawing “Maury”.
This the tenth year that SPACe has worked with Ms. Huff, showing artwork created by her students. The students have benefited from the consistent instruction provided by having her throughout their years at the school. This year’s students created works in clay, but a new kiln had not arrived in time to fire them.
Guests of all ages enjoyed the refreshments provided by the Booster’s Club at the reception April 10
