Landscapes in Fabric with Marika Guthrie

June 24, 1 – 3 pm

$35 includes all materials

Do you love fabrics?  Are you interested in a new way to utilize the beauty of fabrics in art?  Come spend a fun filled afternoon with textile artist Marika Guthrie.  Students will be introduced to the use of fabric and adhesive as an art medium to create colorful landscapes.  Marika will share her techniques and help students discover their own personal style.  Each student will create 1-2 fabric landscapes with instruction on how to add their own finishing touches after the 24-hour curing time.

Marika Guthrie is a textile artist that specializes in whimsical landscapes created with upcycled wood pieces, fabric, and just a touch of paint.  Currently a resident of Pueblo, Marika has lived all over Colorado in the last 20 years.  She is an avid hiker and horseback rider, and her travels through the wilds of Colorado, Utah and New Mexico are the inspiration for her unique style. Marika lives with her husband, three children and a collection of dogs, cats, chickens and horses. Her work can be seen at the Artisans on Main gallery in La Veta, as well as her website thecontentedheart.com

This workshop has been filled. Marika is offering another in Sept.
