CREATIVE CAPITOL EXHIBIT
March 22 – June 14, 2018 in Denver
January 27 – March 3, 2018 in La Veta
Four times a year, Colorado Creative Industries (CCI) invites artist organizations to display artwork at the State Capitol in Denver. Members of the Spanish Peaks Arts Council in La Veta are taking part in this program between mid-March and mid-June.
The artwork is displayed in offices, meeting rooms and in the lower level by the stairs below the rotunda. Some of the artwork is in offices and meeting rooms in the Annex which is across 14th St. from the Capitol Building.
Artists were invited to enter up to three pieces for consideration and all the entered artwork is on display through February. A committee of three selected the artwork which will be traveling to Denver at the end of the show. Typically artwork shown at the SPACe Gallery is relatively small, to allow for the limited wall space. However for this show, artists were required to enter at least one piece 36″ wide and at least 24″ high. Those who visit the show will see the impact of so many larger pieces–large pieces were required by CCI. The SPACe Gallery in the Park, 132 W. Ryus, is open Thursdays & Fridays, 11 – 2 and Saturdays 10 – 2 for the winter. Call 719 742-3074 for information.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Ribbons were awarded by the judges, Carole Kramer, David Zehring, and Brendt Berger. The 3 winners’ artwork are featured on a poster and on the Colorado Creative Industries’ website for the show.
